    Nuñez was elected the 20th lieutenant governor of Florida on November 6, 2018. She assumed office on January 8, 2019. She was the first female Hispanic lieutenant governor in Florida history.

    In March 2017, Nuñez was appointed to the Florida Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) by Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Richard Corcoran, a Republican.
