Dec 21, 2015 · The Matt 1 lineage is NOT cursed. The Jeconiah in verse 11 is not the same Jeconiah as in 1 Chron 3:15. Matt 1 IS Mary’s lineage (the Joseph in verse 16 is her FATHER), the royal rights conveyed. By her marriage to Joseph, those right transferred per the Mosaic statute in Numbers 36 to her husband and then Jesus.
Jeconiah is also mentioned in the first book of Chronicles as the father of Pedaiah, who in turn was the father of Zerubbabel. A list of his descendants is given in 1 Chronicles 3:17–24 . In listing the genealogy of Jesus Christ, Matthew 1:11 records Jeconiah the son of Josiah as an ancestor of Joseph, the husband of Mary.
