  1. Nov 04, 2017 · I totally understand! I've had my iPhone X now for a few weeks. I'm so mad at myself for selling my iPhone 7 Plus. The screen felt so much bigger than this narrow tall phone that crops the sides off of everything. It's pointless to have this screen if it's not all being used. Especially when taking pictures.

  2. Nov 07, 2017 · Ambassador. Photos on the X would need to have a resolution size compatible enough to fit the entire screen. The same is true with older iPhones as well. Photos taken with the 8 Plus don't fill the Plus screen either, unless a 3rd party camera app is used with a 16x9 aspect ratio setting. Photos would need to be cropped to fit the X full screen.

  6. 3 years ago. Because the standard aspect ratio for photos is 4:3, even if they switched to 16:9 it would still not fill the screen. The reason they don’t fill the screen is because that would give you something like a 19.5:9 ratio which is in no way a standard aspect ratio for images. 1. level 1.

  7. Nov 03, 2017 · The most standard video aspect ratio is 1.78 (aka:16x9) and the X's screen [other iPhones use the standard 1.78/16x9 aspect ratio] is much wider at 2.17 (19.5x9) so the notch doesn't come into play. Only a scope movie (2.35 aspect ratio) would be wider than the screen. YouTube.
