Bernard Tai is one of the secondary characters in the book series by Kevin Kwan. He’s the only son of Carol Tai and Dato' Tai Toh Lui, heir of the Tai Fortune and former classmate of Nicholas Young and Colin Khoo.
Bernard is very spoiled by his father and he lives a life of excess and wasted money. This made him into an easy target for actress turned social climber Kitty Pong, who lured him into a relationship and eventually forced him into marriage after she became pregnant.
Bernard fled into hiding in California after a mix-up on his plastic surgery. He engages Giselle, his daughter with Kitty, in his strange activities and doesn't want Kitty involved in their lives, believing it's better she stays in Hong Kong.
Bernard finds himself in a high-profile international custody battle for full custody of Giselle from Kitty, after Kitty leaves him for billionaire businessman Jack Bing.
