Joan London (January 15, 1901 – January 18, 1971) was an American writer and the older of two daughters born to Jack London and his first wife, Elizabeth "Bess" Maddern London.
Joan London was born to Jack and Bess Maddern London on January 15, 1901. Her father was so smitten that he kept a special photo album to memorialize her importance for him. Joan London (1901-1971), born in Oakland, California, on January 15, 1901, was the elder daughter of the author Jack London (1876-1916) and his first wife, Elizabeth (Bess) London. Following graduation from Oakland High School, she attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1921.
