Joel McCrea is one of the great Western stars: after the mid-1940s, that's all he made. But he's best known for his Preston Sturges comedies and other solid flicks like Hitchcock's Foreign Correspondent. Arrow-shirt model handsome, he aged into a weathered, leathery tough guy who rarely smiled.
