Feb 15, 2023 · Johannes Brahms was born on May 7, 1833 in Hamburg, Germany. His father, Johann Jakob, was employed as both a horn and double bass player and gave Johannes his first lessons in music. Later he took piano lessons from Eduard Marxsen who had studied with Ignaz von Seyfriend (a former pupil of Mozart). He also began to compose at an early age.
