John Banner (born Johann Banner, January 28, 1910 – January 28, 1973) was an Austrian-born American actor, best known for his role as Sergeant Schultz in the situation comedy Hogan's Heroes (1965–1971).
John Banner was a Jewish actor who fled Nazi Austria and became famous for his role as Sergeant Schultz in the TV series Hogan's Heroes. He also appeared in movies, such as The Blue Angel and 36 Hours, and died in his hometown Vienna in 1973.
