John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset. John was baptised on 25 March 1404, he succeeded his eldest brother, Henry Beaufort, 2nd Earl of Somerset as the 3rd Earl of Somerset in 1418. He was also created 1st Earl of Kendal. At the age of fifteen, Beaufort fought in his cousin Henry V's 1419 French campaign.

Jun 29, 2022 · John Beaufort, 1st Earl of Somerset died on March 16, 1410, aged about thirty-seven, at the Royal Hospital of St. Katharine by the Tower, a medieval church and hospital next to the Tower of London.
Magnate and soldier John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset, was an English noble and military commander. He was the second son of John Beaufort, 1st Earl of Somerset, and succeeded his elder brother Henry to become the 3rd Earl of Somerset in 1418. Beaufort fought in Henry V's 1419 campaigns in France.
His second son John became the first Duke of Somerset in 1443. [3] The second son (of John of Gaunt), Henry, became a bishop, Lord Chancellor, and a Cardinal; the third son, Thomas, became Duke of Exeter; and the daughter, Joan, married Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland, as his second wife.
