The twelfth generation of the Ford F-Series is a light-duty pickup truck that was produced by Ford from the 2009 to 2014 model years. Initially slotted between the Ford Ranger and Ford Super Duty in size, the F-150 became the smallest Ford truck in North America following the 2011 withdrawal of the Ranger (in North America).
The F-150, F-250, F-250 HD, F-350, and F-Super Duty were available in many different configurations from chassis cab base models, up to XLT trimmed models with their chrome and plush seating. The trucks came with a variety of gasoline and diesel engines.

Sharing its cab with the pickup trucks, medium-duty F-series trucks were offered as a two-door standard cab and as a four-door crew cab. While the previous rear-hinged hood remained standard, the forward-tilting hood became offered for the first time, quickly overtaking it in production.

Ford started offering a 4-door crew cab on the F-250 and F-350 in 1965. Before 1965, Ford farmed out trucks to a number of coachworks across the country to convert the regular cab trucks to crew cab trucks.
In line with its predecessor, the thirteenth-generation F-150 is sold with three cab configurations (two-door regular cab, 2+2 door SuperCab, four-door SuperCrew), with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive (4×4).
A wide variety of body options were available: the 2–3 passenger 2-door regular cab and the 5–6 passenger 3-door SuperCab (4-door after 1999 MY), 8 ft (2.4 m) and 6.5 ft (2.0 m) beds, and a choice of Styleside or Flareside beds on 6.5 ft (2.0 m) models.
