This biography explores the life and times of John Hunyadi. The paper analyses Hungarian, Serbian, and Romanian folklore sources about John Hunyadi’s ethnic origin, with the intention to present the biography of this historical figure from the aspect of Hungarian historiography and his folklore heritage through the eyes of some Hungarian and Serbian folklorists.

Jun 11, 2018 · John Hunyadi (1385?-1456) was regent of Hungary, 1446-1452, and commander of the Hungarian army, 1452-1456. A national hero, he led the struggle against the Ottoman Turks. John Hunyadi spent his youth at the court of the emperor Sigismund, and he distinguished himself in arms from an early age.
The crusade of 1448, the last military offensive led by John Hunyadi to save Constantinople from Ottoman encirclement, has been neglected both by students of international relations in the fifteenth century and by specialists in crusading.
