John I, Lord of Mecklenburg, nicknamed the Theologian (c. 1211 – 1 August 1264) was Lord of Mecklenburg from 1234 until his death. Life. He was the eldest son of Henry Borwin II, Lord of Mecklenburg. He ruled Mecklenburg jointly with his brothers, until they decided to divide the territory in 1234.

Life. John I was probably born in 1326. His father died in 1329, and he remained under guardianship until 1344, when he came of age and began to carry a seal as a participant in the governance of Mecklenburg. On 8 July 1348, Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV raised John and his brother Albert II to the rank of Duke in Prague.

John I of Werle. John I, Lord of Werle -Parchim ( c. 1245 – 15 October 1283), was from 1277 to 1281 to Lord of Werle and from 1281 to 1283 and to Lord of Werle-Parchim. He was the eldest son of Nicholas I and Jutta of Anhalt. After his father's death in 1277, he first ruled Werle together with his brothers Henry I and Bernard I.
