Nov 3, 2023 · On Hwy 79 in Milano, about an hour and a half northeast of Austin, Horton’s car was crossing a bridge over a railroad trestle when a Ford Ranchero pickup coming his way clipped the guardrail and careened into Horton’s car head on. The singer was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital in Cameron at 1:45 a.m. He was 35.
On the night of November 4–5, 1960, Horton and two other band members, Tommy Tomlinson and Tillman Franks, were traveling from the Skyline Club in Austin, Texas to Shreveport when they collided with an oncoming truck on a bridge near Milano in Milam County, Texas. [1]
Jun 9, 2021 · Horton died on his way to the hospital and was the only person to die from his injuries in the accident. The driver was a 19-year-old student from Texas A&M that was later charged with intoxication manslaughter. The strange incidents prior to his death is what caused the country music world to talk.
