  2. This study emphasizes the role of the environment in supporting participation of young children with disabilities. Findings can re-direct practitioners' attention towards modifying the environment as a primary target of intervention aimed at promoting health through participation.

  6. Natural environments are defined as “settings that are natural or typical for a same-aged infant or toddler without a disability” ( IDEA, 2004) and can include places such as the child's home or community settings (e.g., childcare programs, stores, parks).
