Aug 11, 2005 · Johnny ( Ben McKenzie) is George's younger brother, newly married to his high school sweetheart, Ashley ( Amy Adams ). She is pregnant. As George and Madeleine arrive, Ashley is about to give birth. Johnny is responding to this, as he does to everything, by withdrawing, not talking to anybody, working under his car in the garage.
Eastwood's appeal here is bedrock authority. He knows baseball, and he knows he knows it. Amy Adams, the embodiment of lovability since "Junebug" (2005), takes a standard role and makes us value it. Timberlake finds the right note for a basically one-note character.
Madeleine and George stay in the baby's nursery and she becomes friends with Johnny's pregnant young wife Ashley (Amy Adams), a very sweet and friendly, if somewhat naive and talkative girl. The family take Madeline to a church service and she attends Ashley's baby shower.
