Johannesson was born in Filipstad, Värmland County, Sweden on 8 December 1970 and was educated at the public school in Filipstad. Continually inspired by the artistic talents of her young sons, Karin draws her influences from wide range of sources, including traditional Asian art, minimal abstract art, and popular culture. She is excited about the renewed popularity of watercolour today’s art world.
A few of the very famous ones include Helen Frankenthaler, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, O’Keefe, Klimt, Klee and fellow Canadian Tom Thomson. I also enjoy the more modern works of Cy Twombly, and Gerhard Richter. There are some artists doing amazing work with watercolour at the moment, namely Stina Persson, and Cate Parr.
