Kaunas State Choir. The Kaunas State Choir is a professional choir based in Kaunas, Lithuania, founded in October 1969 by professor of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Petras Bingelis. The choir is noted for its collaboration with violinist and conductor Yehudi Menuhin.
The Kaunas State Choir came into being in October 1969. Led by Professor Petras Bingelis, a winner of the Lithuanian National Prize, the choir went forward step by step, actively and determinedly, from small pieces, folk songs, and compositions by Lithuanian composers and occasional ones to the first performance of Mozart's Requiem in 1971.
History. Kaunas State Choir started its professional artistic career on October 23, 1969. Since the foundation of the choir, it had been led by the laureate of the Lithuanian National Award - Professor Petras Bingelis. On December 2020 Professor passed away.
