Biography. Kevin Hooks is an American film and television actor, director, and producer. Hooks first gained notice for his portrayal of the son of a poor Southern sharecropper in the 1972 film "Sounder," a role that he would revisit in the 2003 remake for the "Wonderful World of Disney" TV series.
