Biography: Alfonso XIII was born King of Spain, with his father Alfonso XII having died during the pregnancy, though his mother Maria Christina of Austria was regent until Alfonso reached sixteen years old. Alfonso' reign lasted until the elections of 1931, at which he stepped down to allow the Second Spanish Republic.
