The Kingdom of Israel (Biblical Hebrew: מַמְלֶכֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל , romanized: Mamleḵeṯ Yīśrāʾēl), or the Kingdom of Samaria, was an Israelite kingdom in the Southern Levant during the Iron Age, whose beginnings can be dated back to the first half of the 10th century BCE.

From this point on, there would be two kingdoms of Hebrews: in the north - Israel, and in the south - Judah. The Israelites formed their capital in the city of Samaria, and the Judaeans kept their capital in Jerusalem. These kingdoms remained separate states for over two hundred years.
The kingdom of Israel was larger in size and controlled more significant trade routes than did Judah. Territorial boundaries expanded and contracted over time as Israel and Judah engaged in conflict with one another and their neighbors.
