Veliky Novgorod ( Russian: Великий Новгород, lit. 'Great Newtown', IPA: [vʲɪˈlʲikʲɪj ˈnovɡərət] ), [12] also known simply as Novgorod ( Новгород ), is the largest city and administrative centre of Novgorod Oblast, Russia.
