Oct 11, 2007 · The first tunnel is about 6 feet (1,80 m) high on average, with some low spots so most people have to walk hunched over just to be safe. The water is 1-9 inches (3-22 cm) deep and the bottom is rough and rocky. The second half of the tunnel also has submerged railroad tracks, so watch your toes if you have open sandals.

There are two trailheads for this out-and-back hike on a mostly gravel path. The East Trailhead in Afton has a large parking area. Most hikers start from here.
