    Don’t be in a hurry to do Lands End. There are nine detours, lookouts and memorials that are all worth spending some time exploring. Here’s a bit about each:

    There is actually quite a bit of parking available for Lands End, but on a sunny Saturday, it will fill up fast. The Sutro Baths parking lot holds ~75 cars and there is also some limited street parking above it near the Cliff House. There are ~140 spots along western El Camino Del Mar and into Fort Miley, which is where the SS San Francisco Memoria...

    If you’d like to make a longer day of it, here are a few suggestions for things to do in the northern part of the city: 1. Take a walk on the trails near the Golden Gate Bridge. 2. Visit the nearby Lincoln St. mosaic staircase, which is one of 4 mosaic stairs in SF. 3. Hang out in the Presidio.

    • Sutro Baths. Before heading out on the Land’s End Trail, hike down to the Sutro Baths. This spot is a lot of fun to explore and to climb around on. You can spend a lot of time here if you choose and it is ideal for sunset.
    • Point Lobos. Located to the right of the Sutro Baths, this lookout area is a great spot to get views of the baths and the coastline itself. This is also where you can see the famous rock that has a heart shape cut out of it.
    • USS San Francisco Memorial. The USS San Francisco Memorial is a beautiful place dedicated to the ship and the sacrifice that many men and women have made to defend our freedom.
    • Mile Rock Lighthouse. Next up, from the viewpoint, be sure also to look out at the Mile Rock Lighthouse, or what is left of it, in the water in front of you.
  2. May 21, 2019 · Park in the Lan’s End / Sutro Baths parking lot at 680 Point Lobos Ave. It can get busier in the evenings but we almost always can find a spot. If it’s full, resort to street parking around Geary. This area is a popular tourist area, so make sure to not leave valuables in your car as break-ins sometimes happens.

Both times we had great views and I thought it would be fun to show the difference. To begin, follow the Coastal Trail which starts at the North end of the parking lot.
