Biography. Laurie Metcalf is an original ensemble member of Steppenwolf Theatre Company. She has performed in dozens of Steppenwolf productions, and made her first appearance in New York in Steppenwolf’s acclaimed 1984 production of Lanford Wilson's Balm in Gilead at the Circle Rep Theater.
