Leadbetter Beach. Leadbetter Beach is conveniently located within minutes of downtown Santa Barbara. Good but not great sand. It is the west coast and feels like the sun is setting to the north and not west over the ocean. Tough to get good sunset pictures.

Leadbetter Beach Park has rental picnic and barbecue sites, outdoor showers, restrooms, a grassy lawn, and convenient parking (in the paid City lot next to the park) to accompany your beach visit. This is a popular beach for beginning surfers, windsurfers, and sailboats. Walking, jogging, and sunbathing are popular activities.

Leadbetter is an artificial beach, built by accident. When Santa Barbara Harbor was built, it blocked the downshore current, holding up the natural sand flow. The college is built on the original coastline's front cliffs, now about 30 yards off-shore; the original beachfront lies where the current SBCC football field is located.
