May 24, 2022 · The only con that comes with North Beach is the hefty admission fee for out-of-towners, but at under an hour from D.C., most visitors think it’s worth it. Distance: 58 minutes by car. Address: 9023 Bay Avenue, North Beach, Md. 20714. Admission: Ranges from $6-$9 for Calvert County residents, $10-$25 for noncounty residents.

Leadbetter Beach offers not only easy beach and ocean access, but also a large grassy area with picnic tables and barbeques. This is a good beach for beginning surfers, as well as kitesurfers and windsurfers. To the east of Leadbetter is West Beach, which is wide and often hosts large public events like Santa Barbara’s 4th of July celebration.

Leadbetter Beach is at the base of Santa Barbara City College and next to Santa Barbara Harbor. Drivers on Highway 101 North should take the Garden Street or Castillo Street exit. The beach is about 40 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara on foot; biking down State Street and turning west on the harbor bike path is the better option.
