Apr 25, 2024 · The Surge is Leatherman's largest multi-tool. It is indeed giant. It weighs over 3/4 pound and has a main blade that is nearly as long as that on your typical full-size pocket knife. The pliers are super robust and sturdy. The scissors are larger even than those on a full-size swiss army knife.

Apr 12, 2017 · The Leatherman Surge is probably one of our favorite multi-tools to date. It’s one of the two biggest multi tools made by the Portland-based company, and is easily one of our favorite tools we’ve reviewed. It is slightly larger than the standard multi tools that we’re used to, but it’s also significantly sturdier in design.
FULL REVIEW. Construction & Materials. Like their other full-sized tools, Leatherman has built the Surge to withstand some serious abuse. By adding in the option to replace some of the key tools (saw, wire cutters, Philips head screwdriver) they’ve eliminated a couple of my pet peeves found on other tools in this price range.

It has a good mix of basic tools, removable wire cutters, and a lot of the functionality of the Surge. It costs a bit less than the Surge but provides most of the same utility.
