The total cost of the lighthouse came in at $2,999.94. Lewis Conant exhibited the light at Salmon River for the first time in August 1838, and shortly thereafter, Lieutenant Charles. T. Platt stopped by and later filed the following report: This is a new light, just established, and is fixed on the keeper’s dwelling.
