  1. 3/10. Does this film make any sense?! planktonrules 19 September 2015. Ruth Roman is stuck starring in a rather dopey movie. The acting is generally good and the atmosphere also quite good...but the plot is just stupid. The film begins with a man being re-tried in court for murdering his wife.

  3. A rare attempt at film noir from an unexpected source, Lightning Strikes Twice (1951) is a not entirely successful, but nevertheless fascinating film that boasts deft directorial touches from the great King Vidor, and a compelling performance by the intense Mercedes McCambridge.

It's a very curious film noir with this fish out of water on vacation no less in a dry local of a dude ranch and is played by Ruth Roman (Shelley Carnes) who randomly gets sucked into these locals lives full of money, land and lust and succumbs to be involved.

  8. Aug 5, 2019 · Reviewed by Dennis Schwartz. A muddled b/w drama, attempting vainly to be film noir, is based on a novel by Margaret Echard and written by Lenore Coffee. It’s a by the numbers directed effort by King Vidor (“Ruby Gentry”/”War and Peace”). It generates little tension and interest.
