AboutNLR Friends of Animals. NLR Friends of Animals began in 1996 and raises funds to benefit the animals at the NLR Animal Shelter. Through our service programs, our members volunteer to help both free-living and domestic animals in the city of North Little Rock.

The organization’s primary goals are to spread the word about spay/neuter procedures, lessen stray animal overpopulation, and aid in finding loving, permanent homes for the animals in the shelter. An Adoption Application is required. The animals can be adopted at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday-Saturday on their available date. It is a state law that an animal can not leave a shelter until sterilized (Arkansas Code 20-19-103 I (1). For animals needing sterilization, they will be altered at the next available time by the LRAS veterinarian.
