  3. Lucy was the mother of John Roderigo Dos Passos (1896-1970), the popular writer. According to her will dated September 19, 1910, his given name was Madison. According to a book on the writer's life, John Randolph Dos Passos refused to acknowledge him as his son until around 1912 (see Virginia Spencer Carr's Dos Passos: A Life (1984)).
