Oct 25, 2023 · Early localized Lyme disease — Early localized Lyme disease (the erythema migrans rash, with or without flu-like symptoms) is treated with oral antibiotics, usually doxycycline, amoxicillin, or cefuroxime, taken daily. Doxycycline is given for 10 to 21 days, and amoxicillin and cefuroxime are given for 14 to 21 days.
Early Lyme disease†. Amoxicillin. 500 mg orally 3 times a day for 14 days. Doxycycline. 100 mg orally twice a day for 10 days. Cefuroxime axetil. 500 mg orally twice a day for 14 days. Azithromycin (for patients unable to take doxycycline or beta-lactam antibiotics) 500 mg orally once a day for 7 days.
