The LAUSD Magnet Program offers specialized courses or curricula designed to attract students based on their interests while stressing academic excellence, cooperative/experiential learning, interdisciplinary coursework, and peer collaboration. The LAUSD Magnet Program is comprised of both Magnet schools and Magnet centers.
Magnet Programs Gifted Magnet Programs, coordinated by Student Integration Services, offer self-contained classes and place emphasis on developing higher-level thinking skills in a demanding academic program for students who are entering grades 1–12.
The LAUSD Magnet program is a voluntary integration program. From kindergarten through 12th grade, Magnet students pursue academic interests in special environments for learning. Each Magnet school offers a subject specialty or special teaching approaches.
