Margaret Isely (August 13, 1921 – July 23, 1997) was an American businesswoman, organic food activist, nutritionist, political activist and peace activist. She is best known for founding the health food chain Natural Grocers in 1955 along with her husband Philip Isely .

Margaret and Philip Isely, struggling, idealistic young parents, started Natural Grocers with $200 and a dream—a dream that everyone should be able to afford a healthy and active lifestyle. The inspiration for this dream came from their life experiences.
The business was founded in 1955 as a door-to-door sales operation by Margaret and Philip Isely. They opened the first Vitamin Cottage store in Lakewood, Colorado , in 1963. After Margaret Isely's death in 1997, the Iselys' children took over the business the following year.
