A plot summary and explanation of the ending of the Canadian-French film Martyrs.. what did Anna whisper? and why did Mademoiselle kill herself?
There really isn’t anything particularly deep or philosophical about Martyrs, it’s a decent movie with some bleak themes and fairly severe violence but overall in the entire catalog of bleak/violent/gruesome/disturbing movies I agree with OP that there’s nothing about it that makes it stand out.
