Personal life. In 1947, Virginia Mayo married actor Michael O’Shea, and they were married until he died in 1973. Mary Catherine O’Shea was the couple’s only child. For several decades, the family lived in Thousand Oaks, California. In later years, she developed a passion for painting and devoted much of her time to her three grandchildren.
For about fifteen years, she shares her house in Thousand Oaks, at about sixty kilometers from Hollywood, with her 35 years old daughter, Mary Catherine, her son-in-law, and her three grandsons, Lucas, Evan and Dillon. She did not get married again since the death of actor Michael O'Shea, her husband during twenty years.
