Mary Jo was and is the main fundraiser, the recruiter of volunteers and director of the shelter. Mary Jo has recruited church groups to buy, prepare, bring in and serve the noon meal each day. She has a different group for each day of the month.
We provide over 3,300 beds to adults and children that would otherwise be sleeping on the floor. Mary’s Place Transitional Shelter houses over 600 people each night, of those over 400 are children. Sharing and Caring Hands serves over 157,000 meals each year (3,000 per week) to people in need.
