Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg was born from the reunion of two typical hotels of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The first, called Hôtel de Vouillemont, quoted by Marcel Proust in “Un amour de Swann”, was a hotel frequented by high Parisian society but also international like Mary of Hungary, Queen of Naples and sister of the Empress Sissi.

The building is adjacent to a monastery founded in the XIII century by the Swabians later expanded in 1325 by order of Queen Mary of Hungary, wife Carlo II of Anjou. By the initial complex today remain only the church overlooks Piazza Donnaregina and fourteenth-century church called "old Donnaregina".
