The movie stars Mary Tyler Moore as a housewife who is married to a seismologist and spends her days raising their children and her evenings at aerobics class. One day at the gym, she meets a spunky, independent young woman ( Christine Lahti ) and they feel an instant affection for one another.
Mary Tyler Moore is married to Ted Danson who's having an affair with Christine Lahti. Moore is friends with Lahti and doesn't know about the cheating. Danson dies in an accident and Lahti is pregnant with his baby.
