During the pilot episode, Ginnycatches Max's attention in AP English after she stands up to Mr. Gitten. Max immediately introduces herself and befriends Ginny, also inviting Ginny to sit with her and her friends at lunch. Max talks a mile a minute, revealing her energetic personality. Max makes her first appearance on Thanksgiving day, enthusiastically welcoming her grandparents to their house as the Bakers’ are hosting their Thanksgiving dinner. When Max and Ellen notice Marcus is still upstairs, she goes up to his room and asks him to come, with an annoyed Marcus declining despite Ellen’s threats of punishing him for not coming. When Marcus asks Max if she’s heard from Ginny and if she even cares that she’s gone, Max gets annoyed and dismissive, claiming she hasn’t heard...
Max is known for being funny and outgoing, and seems to have it easy in social situations, although she can be obsessive and self-centered at times. This is revealed throughout her crush on and relationship with Sophie. She also enjoys letting her strong personality shine through theater and other activities.
