20 years after the original movie defined a generation of teen comedies, Mean Girls returns to the big screen, reimagined as a musical comedy. The new Mean Girls, once again written by Tina Fey, draws from the original movie and ongoing musical that debuted in 2017.
Mean Girls is now available in theaters. To find when and where you can watch the movie near you, check the local showtime listings at the main theater sites below:

Mean Girls will eventually be released on Paramount+, rather than Netflix, Hulu, Dinsey+, or Max.
Paramount has yet to announce a streaming date. However, throughout 2023, Paramount brought its movies to its streaming platform roughly 45 days after their theatrical debuts (with the exception of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One). Should Paramount stick with that cadence, you can expect Mean Girls to hit Parmount+ around late February.
Mean Girls is a reimagining of the 2004 movie and 2017 musical of the same name — both of which are inspired by Rosalind Wiseman's 2002 book Queen Bees and Wannabes. Here's the official synopsis from Paramount:
New student Cady Heron is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George and her minions Gretchen and Karen. However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis and Damian, she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.
