Metropolis is a 1927 German expressionist science-fiction silent film directed by Fritz Lang and written by Thea von Harbou in collaboration with Lang [6] [7] from von Harbou's 1925 novel of the same name (which was intentionally written as a treatment ). It stars Gustav Fröhlich, Alfred Abel, Rudolf Klein-Rogge, and Brigitte Helm.

Fritz Lang (1890–1976) was an Austrian film director, producer and screenwriter. In Lang's early career he worked primarily as a screenwriter, finishing film scripts in four to five days. [1] . Lang directed major German films of the silent and early sound eras including Metropolis (1927) and M (1931) respectively.
