The Employee Development section develops and administers specialized area-wide human resources and career development programs, and training services to further enhance the full-time mission of the Michigan National Guard.
The Michigan Army National Guard is the Army component of the Michigan National Guard and a reserve component of the United States Army. During the Cold War , the 156th Signal Battalion was federalized on 1 October 1962 at its home stations in response to the Cuban Missile Crisis .

The Army National Guard is a part-time state-based military component that serves a dual mission. Each Guard unit serves under the command of their state governor to respond to natural disasters or other state emergencies. In addition, Guard units can be activated to defend the nation when needed.
The Guard is recruiting Cyber Warriors, Signal specialty positions and other Information Technology specialties in several locations in the state. Currently there are 134 vacant positions that are rapidly filling, with 14 of those specifically defined as part of the state’s Cyber Protection Team.
