Michael Che Campbell (/ ˈ tʃ eɪ /; born May 19, 1983) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. Che is best known for his work on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live , where he has served as co-anchor on Weekend Update alongside Colin Jost , and the two were co-head writers from 2017 until 2022. Che has performed stand-up on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers and on CBS's Late Show with David Letterman. In 2016, he released his first hour-long stand-up special entitled Michael Che Matters on Netflix. Che has made numerous other television and film appearances. In 2018 he co-hosted the 70th Annual Primetime EMMY Awards on NBC.
