Seibel is Partner at Y Combinator and CEO of the YC startup accelerator program, which first helped launch Reddit in 2005. He’s also the cofounder of Justin.tv/Twitch and Socialcam.
Michael Seibel is a popular American YC Group Partner and Managing Director of YC Early Stage (the startup accelerator). He also works on the board of two YC companies, Reddit and Dropbox. Previously, Michael was a co-founder and CEO of two Y Combinator startups Justin.tv/Twitch (2007 – 2011) and Socialcam (2011 – 2012).

Jan 3, 2024 · Born on October 7, 1982, in New York City and raised in Brooklyn, Michael Seibel moved to East Brunswick, New Jersey, during his youth. A 2000 East Brunswick High School graduate, he pursued higher education at Yale University. Majoring in political science, Seibel graduated in 2005 and formed a significant friendship with Justin Kan.

Socialcam sold to Autodesk in 2012 for $60m and under the leadership of Emmett Shear, Justin.tv became Twitch.tv and sold to Amazon in 2014 for $970m.
