Ann Arbor Campus Requirement. At least 12 credits – including both 400 level courses – must be taken on the Ann Arbor campus. Exclusions. Only eight credits of Experiential and Independent Study credit may be included in the major. Only four of these credits can come from POLSCI 399.
Each fall, the Department of Political Science accepts applications for admission to our doctoral program. Applications become available in September and are accepted until December 15 for admission the following fall.

In the political science doctoral program, a student’s coursework is geared toward the completion of a preliminary examination in one major field of political science and one minor field. For joint students in the joint program, public policy coursework substitutes for the minor field.
