Dahlia Hill (DH) is both a protected garden area in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, encompassing 1.41 acres (0.57 ha) of terraced gardens, and the a 501 (c) (3) non-profit educational organization that runs the garden. Located in the city of Midland, Michigan, they annually grow more than 3,000 dahlia plants.
GROWING DAHLIAS IN CONTAINERS. Dahlia Care. There are various reasons to grow dahlias in containers. Some growers use containers to protect their dahlia plants from voles or other digging mammals. The containers provide a barrier to protect the roots from these pests. Others grow some plants in small (4-inch) pots buried in the ground.
