Vehicle registration expires each year (refer to your vehicle’s current tabs for the month) and must be renewed. You may renew your vehicle registration online. Please Note: Online tab renewal is only available for standard passenger class vehicles (cars, pick-ups under 1 ton and SUVs).

Tab Renewals. Vehicle must be titled in MN and have current MN Plates. If not, please choose a Title Appointment to transfer vehicle into your name. Gather and bring the following insurance information to your appointment: Company Name. Policy Number. Expiration Date.
To renew your MN tabs online, gather your renewal notice, your vehicle information such as your VIN and license plate number (both of which should be printed on your notice), and payment for your renewal fees. Visit the DVS online services portal and follow the prompts to renew your registration.
