Abington Township is a township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is adjacent to Philadelphia's northern fringe. The population was 58,502 as of the 2020 census, making it the second most populous township in Montgomery County after Lower Merion Township.
Montgomery County was created on September 10, 1784, from part of Philadelphia County, and named for General Richard Montgomery. Norristown, the County Seat, was laid out in 1784, and incorporated as a Borough on March 31, 1814.
