The Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Russian: Не́нецкий автоно́мный о́круг; Nenets: Ненэцие" автономной округ’, romanized: Nyeneciye” awtonomnoy okruk’) is a federal subject of Russia and an autonomous okrug of Arkhangelsk Oblast. Its administrative center is the town of Naryan-Mar.

The Nenets are an indigenous people living in the Extreme North of the Russian Federation. They speak a language totally unrelated to Russian, practise an animistic religion, have Asian facial features and are traditionally nomadic reindeer herders.
Nenets, autonomous okrug (district), northeastern European Russia. The okrug extends along the coast of the Barents Sea, from Mezen Bay to Baydarata Bay. The surface is a level plain, broken by the northern ends of the Timan Hills and the Urals.
